The former kingdom of Lo, Upper Mustang is the most popular trekking route in Nepal since 1992, after it is opened to foreigners to explore this hidden landscape. It is touched with the Tibetan border, so the lifestyles in Upper Mustang are homogenous with the Tibetans.

It is located in the Trans-Himalayan region of Nepal. The Upper Mustang Trekking in Nepal goes through the traditional yak herding salt trade route between Nepal and Tibet. So, this trekking to Upper Mustang can be considered as the exploration of the unique culture and arts of the ethnic groups.

Upper Mustang is flat and barren land. It is an arid region away from the Himalayan region of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. Around the Upper Mustang Trekking route, moraine valleys and craggy cliffs, and deserted landscape prevail. Passing through the Himalayan ethnic settlements and some of the passes, you reach the enticing range of Lo-Manthang.

The communities are still living the primitive life standard. Ancient monasteries, palaces, houses made from mud, and stonewalled cities are some of the key features of the Lomanthang. The bushy flower range in this region is colorful.

Local people are motivated to celebrate festivals and perform different rituals. Overall, the Upper Mustang Trekking Nepal offers a beautiful trekking trail into the remote Trans-Himalayan zone of Nepal.

The trekkers can explore the very oldest monasteries, caves, and other things like the culture and costumes of the ethnic tribe (mainly influenced by the Tibetan tradition) of Nepal as well as the beautiful landscapes.

Besides, the Tiji festival of Mustang is also the major attraction that is influenced by Tibetan culture. Accomplishing the trekking in Upper Mustang and returning to Jomsom, you fly back to Pokhara through the mid-range of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs.
