Annapurna base camp trek 

Annapurna base camp trek is a spectacular package to discover the Himalayan wonders and unique culture. It is also known as the trekkers' paradise. You get an enchanting experience to reach the base of the world's 10th highest mountain-Annapurna (8091m). The Annapurna Base Camp's altitude is 4130 meters. It is surrounded by high Himalayan peaks and glacial ranges. This trek offers extraordinary views of Annapurna massifs, Dhaulagiri, Fishtail, and others.

Ghandruk is an ethnic village where you can enjoy the typical culture and tradition, especially of the Gurung tribe. Their hospitality is praiseworthy. You can even go for visiting the old Gurung museum nearby and even click the picture by wearing their traditional dress.

After your arrival at the International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, you will be picked up by one of our representatives and transferred to the hotel.

In the morning after having breakfast, you will have a drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu. It takes almost six hours to reach Pokhara. The bus leaves at 7 am in the morning from Kathmandu to Pokhara. So, your guide will pick you up from the hotel at 6:30 am. During traveling on a bus, you will see the magnificent beauty of hills, rivers, and mountains. After reaching the Tourist Bus Station in Pokhara, you will have again a short drive to the hotel.
Regarding Pokhara, it is a beautiful valley, set on the banks of the Phewa Lake. It is also popular for its panoramic mountain views of Annapurna, Machchhapuchchhre (the shape of a fish tail) in the north, Dhaulagiri in the west, Lamjung Himal, and Manaslu in the east.

In the morning after eating your breakfast, you will have a drive to the small place, known as Kimche. It is a trekking starting point. You will go there by private Jeep due to the off-road, a car can not drive there. It takes almost two hours to reach there.
Then your actual trekking begins. It takes approximately three hours to reach Ghandruk. It is a beautiful place mainly populated by the Gurung people. This village is popular for its distinctive culture and costume. The warm welcome and hospitality of locals are praiseworthy. Not only foreign tourist but, domestic tourist also loves to visit this place. Exploring the Old Gurung Museum and this community is worthwhile.

This is almost five hours of walking day. The trail goes a bit ascending in the beginning and then descending to the Chhomrong River. Again the upwards trail starts up to Chhomrong village where you can have lunch in front of the Himalayan scenarios. Then the continuation of your downhill and uphill trekking takes you to Sinuwa. If the weather favors, the vivid mountain views can be seen.

This is a little bit tiring walk as the trail is uphill almost all the way. The river views, green vegetation, and mountain scenes make your trekking fantastic. The continuous of ascending takes you to Deurali, the final destination of today's trekking.

Today, you are going to meet your final destination as you are going to Annapurna Base Camp. The ascending occurs all the way to Machchhapuchchhre Base Camp. From this camp, you can see the astonishing views of Machchhapuchchhre Himal, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Himchuli, and other snowcapped peaks. It is so mesmerizing while entering towards Annapurna Sanctuary area because the trail becomes wider and wider and the forest disappears gradually. From ABC, the views are seen more clearly and nearly. The Annapurna ranges, Fishtail, and other peaks can be seen vividly.

This is downhill trekking all the way to Bamboo. After seeing the early morning views of Himalayan ranges, the trail retraces the previous path to MBC to Deurali to Dovan and to Bamboo.

Today, you will follow the same route until Chhomrong and your trail will go down very steeply to the place called Jhinu Danda where you get lunch. From there, it takes almost one hour to reach Mathque village along the descending pathways.
Then, you will have about to three hours of driving back to Pokhara. After reaching Pokhara, you will check in at the hotel.

In the morning after having breakfast, you will have a drive back to Kathmandu on a Tourist Bus. The bus leaving time from Pokhara to Kathmandu is 7:30 am. So, a guide will take you there by a private vehicle and you will get on the bus. It follows the previous roadways and reaches Kathmandu. Then a guide leaves you at the hotel. 
After having some rest, you will enjoy a farewell dinner at one of the typical Nepalese restaurants with us.

Today, you are going back to your home town. So, our representative will leave you at the airport almost three hours before your flight schedule.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek in Nepal FAQs
  • It takes almost 6 hours to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu on a bus. And it takes only 20 minutes by aeroplane.

  • During the Annapurna base camp trek, you will spend your night at the tea house. It is a small hotel and lodge which provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as a room for sleeping.
    You can get good accommodation with an attached bathroom and free hot showering with free wi-fi in the lower elevation of the Annapurna trek route. 
    But the accommodation will be basic in the higher elevation. You can get a twin-sharing room with a bed, pillow, and blanket. The toilets are provided on a sharing basis.

  • The facilities of battery charging and hot showering are available in the route of ABC. But you need to pay a small amount for having a hot shower in a higher elevation like almost $1.

  • You need to make hydrated your body by drinking lots of water and soup. And avoiding alcoholic things and smoking would be beneficial for overcoming altitude sickness during the ABC trek.

  • Normally, healthy people can do the Annapurna base camp trek. S/He must be fit and fine both mentally and physically. Otherwise, it is ok.

  • We suggest you involve in normal activities like walking, hiking, swimming, and cardio exercises at least a month before your trekking begins.

  • The Annapurna base camp trek is almost 120 km long from and to Pokhara. It can be completed within 7 days. But our planned itinerary is 11 days.

  • Annapurna base camp trek is the best destination for beginners. It is neither easier nor harder. It is situated in the normal elevation that every healthy person can adjust to with proper acclimatization. The walking trail is also not complicated.

  • During the Annapurna base camp trek, you will spend your night at the tea house. It is a small hotel and lodge which provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as a room for sleeping.

    You can get good accommodation with an attached bathroom and free hot showering with free wi-fi in the lower elevation of the Annapurna trek route.

    But the accommodation will be basic in the higher elevation. You can get a twin-sharing room with a bed, pillow, and blanket. The toilets are provided on a sharing basis.

  • ABC is a moderately difficult trek. A physically fit and fine person without previous trekking experience can complete this trekking. But you must have strong determination mentally to do the trek.

  • Tipping is western culture. But it is being a culture in Nepal as well, especially in the travel sector. A guide and a porter will be happy if they get a tip.

    But the amount of tip is not set in Nepal. You can give a tip as per your preference depending on your satisfaction level.

    Except for the guide and porter, you do not need to give a tip to the driver or hotel staff. Because it is charged already in a bill. However, it is up to you whether to provide a tip or not.

  • It costs almost USD 25 for a guide and USD 20 for a porter in the Annapurna region trekking. But one porter can carry the backpack of two trekkers up to 20 kg in total.

  • Annapurna region is not a restricted area. So, a trekker can join the trekking in this region solo. But it is advisable to hire at least one Nepalese whether a guide or a porter for making your trip easier and make your mind stress-free. This would be a safer idea too. But it depends on your confidence level.

  • There is accessibility to the internet en route to ABC. You can get Wi-fi at every tea house. But it may work slowly, especially in the higher elevation and you need to pay for using it in high altitude places. But it is free in the lower elevation. So, it is suggested to buy a data pack from the SIM card which may cost cheaper and work speedily.

  • No, there are no facilities for ATMs on the Annapurna base camp route. And the tea houses do not accept credit cards as well. So, you must withdraw enough cash from Kathmandu or Pokhara. It would be easier if you have Nepali currency.

  • The facilities of battery charging and hot showering are available in the route of ABC. But you need to pay a small amount for having a hot shower at a higher elevation like almost $1.

  • 4,190 meters is the highest altitude for trekking to ABC. It is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp.

  • It is needed to walk for almost 5-6 hours per day during the ABC trek on average.

    After looking at so many photos on social media. I finally planned to travel Annapurna region of Nepal.
