It enters the Everest region through the Jiri and stops at Lukla airstrip for fueling purposes where you can see a glimpse of the Sherpa people for the first time. Both Jiri and Lukla are the gateways to the Everest Base Camp Trekking zones.

Then the Helicopter rides continue over the Khumbu glaciers and the verdant hills. It displays the aerial views of Sherpa inhabitants, picturesque valleys, glaciated lakes, the green forest, and the passes marked with chortens and colorful prayer flags. Most importantly, you can uncover the natural beauty of Mt. Everest massifs and other towering snowcapped peaks. The Helicopter shuttles for two times in Pheriche if there are more than three travelers in a Helicopter. Then the Helicopter flies directly over the Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar. It hovers there for some time and you can see the gorgeous views of Mt. Everest and other mountains very closely and clearly.

After capturing some photos, the plane leaves Kala Patthar Hill and takes you to another best viewpoint of the Everest region i.e. Everest View Hotel. It is a popular hotel where you can have a delicious breakfast and enjoy the surrounding Himalayan giants together.

You can also take your photographs with those snow-capped peaks. The special feature of Everest View Hotel is that it displays the mountain vistas and Khumbu glaciers from every corner of its physical structure.

How safe is the Everest base camp Helicopter tour?

Safety and security is the basic concern of Rising Adventure. Our execution system follows every flight instruction. Our Helicopter won’t fly if there is any technical issue or bad weather.

Unlike the 90s, these days, there has been the modernization of all the gears, weather forecasting systems, communication with travelers, and rescue facilities have improved a lot. However, there will be a lack of oxygen, but we have an oxygen tank in the Helicopter which you will adapt instantly if something happens. Otherwise, you are perfect. But overlooking all the difficulty, it is a lifetime experience, and it will change your life forever so, please enjoy the fun and tremendous thrill of the tour, if you are a nature and mountain lover. No worry one of any age can go to the Everest base camp helicopter.

The safety of the helicopter tour of Everest base camp depends upon many factors from the pilot, and helipad to the weather. The helipad at the Lukla is reliable and quite safe. However, the helicopter does not land at the base camp of Mount Everest as the base camp does not have a proper Helipad, due to the movement of glaciers every season of the year. In precise it is not safe and the base camp does not offer views of Mt. Everest as well due to the obstruction by other peaks. So, it will be landed at a grand viewpoint, Kalapatthar where one can enjoy the closest views of Mt. Everest at a mere distance. As we have mentioned the safety of the helicopter depends upon the Pilot as well and each and every pilot of Rising Adventure are experienced and know the trail better and provides great service. So, one can feel safer and rely on them while traveling with them.

We operate the trip only after ensuring everything related to the Helicopter flight to Lukla. However, sometimes, the sudden weather changes, but our experienced pilots manage this situation very consciously as they are well trained, completed lots of rescue missions, and are used to this service as well as know the route very well. Therefore, we assure 100% safety and comfort during the EBC Heli tour with us.

More importantly, it is better to join the Helicopter excursion in the morning than on the second flight. From the point of view of safe also, the weather is more clear in the morning and there is the rare chance of a first flight delay or postponement. In case of cancellation, your amount will be refunded fully.

Note: Spending more than technically allocated time may increase the risk of getting altitude sickness, so you will have a short period of spending time on top of the Kalapatthar. However, our Helicopter is there stand by, therefore, you do not need to be too much conscious regarding any health issue.

The list of mountains that can be seen during the Everest base camp Helicopter tour

Mount Everest

The highlight of the Helicopter excursion to Everest base camp is the Ariel view of the world's tallest mountain Mount Everest. This is located at an elevation of 8,848 meters above sea level. To witness Mount Everest is the dream of many travelers at least once in a lifetime. You can capture a clear view of Everest from Kala Patthar which is at an altitude of 5565m.

Mount Lhotse

Besides Everest, you will also be able to witness the fourth highest mountain in the world, Lhotse at 8,516 meters, following Mount Everest, K2, and Kanchenjunga respectively. The main summit is on the border between the Khumbu region of Nepal and the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. It lies just south of Mount Everest, to which it is connected by a ridge at an elevation of about 25,000 feet. It is sometimes considered part of the Everest massif. Keeping Everest to the north, you will witness Nuptse to the south during the flight. Lhotse has three stages among three summits, the highest of Lhotse I is at an altitude of 27,940 feet (8,516 meters) above sea level.

Mt. Pumori

During your Helicopter journey toward Kala Patthar, you will witness another gorgeous snow-covered mountain, named Pumori. The striking peak is located just eight kilometers west of Mount Everest. In the Sherpa language, the word Pumori refers to "the Mountain Daughter". Similarly, the mountain was named by George Mallory. In the Sherpa language the "Pumo" means young girl or daughter and "Ri" means mountain in the Sherpa language. Thus, the Pumori means the mountain daughter.

Shishapangma

The famous Everest base camp helicopter tour allows you to have an Ariel view of Shishapangma. Shishapangma commonly known as Gosainthān, is the 14th-highest mountain in the world. Shishapangma is at an elevation of 8,027 meters above sea level.

Mount Nuptse

Standing next World's tallest Mount Everest, Nuptse is another spectacular mountain that is located in the Khumbu region of the Mahalangur Himal, in the Nepalese Himalayas. From the flight, you will able to witness the summit of the Nuptse and an Ariel view of Mount Nuptse. The beautiful mountain is at an elevation of 7,861 m. The main peak of Mount Nuptse is Nubtse I which was first climbed on May 16, 1961, by Dennis Davis and Sherpa Tashi and the following day by Chris Bonington.

Mount Cho Oyu

Another mountain that you will see from the Everest base camp helicopter excursion is Cho Oyu. The word Cho-Oyu refers to the "Turquoise Goddess" in Tibetan and is the westernmost main peak of the Khumbu sub-section of the Mahalangur Himalaya and about 20 km west of Mount Everest. Cho Oyu stands on the China Tibet–Nepal Province No. 1 border.

The summit of Cho Oyu is at an altitude of 5,716m, a glaciated pass that serves as the main trading route between the Tibetans and the Khumbu's Sherpas. Similarly, the pass separates the Khumbu and Rolwaling Himalayas. Not only that Cho Oyu is considered the easiest 8,000-meter peak to climb. It is a popular objective for professionally guided parties.

Mt. Tawache

Mount Tawache also known as Taboche is a mountain in the Khumbu region of the Nepalese Himalaya. The beautiful mountain is connected to Cholatse by a long ridge and lies directly across the Imja River from Ama Dablam and above the villages of Pheriche and Dingboche.

Island peak

Island Peak also known as Imja Tse, is another peak that you will witness during the Helicopter day tour to EBC. The spectacular mountain is at an altitude of 6189m above sea level. Tucked away up the Chukkung valley this striking peak does indeed look like an island that is dwarfed on both sides by the stupendous Baruntse to the south and Lhotse/Nuptse South Wall to the north. The views of the Island peak from the flight are truly wonderful, and all the more memorable for a spectacular airy ridge climb to the top.

Imja Tse was a training mountain used by Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing in 1953 and the route they revealed is the same one that is used today. In fact, Island Peak is still an admired training peak for clients attempting Mount Everest because a lot of the skills required for crossing crevasses with ladders and using jumars on a fixed line are the same.

Mera peak

During the Helicopter excursion to Everest base camp, you will see another beautiful peak named Mera Peak which is situated in the Mahalangur section of the Sagarmatha zone. Mera Peak has three main summits: Mera North, 6,476 meters, Mera South, 6,065 meters, and Mera Central, 6,461 meters. From the Everest base camp helicopter flight, you will able to see all three summits. Moreover, Mera Peak is one of the tallest “trekking” peaks in Nepal. However, succeeding at the summit of Mera Peak remains the hardest objective and shouldn’t be underestimated.

Mt. Ama Dablam

Ama Dablam is another mountain that you will see from the Everest base camp Helicopter day tour. The beautiful mountain is located in the eastern Himalayan range of Province No. 1 Nepal. The main peak of the Ama Dablam is 6,812 meters meanwhile the lower western peak is 6,170 meters. The word Ama Dablam refers to the "Mother's necklace"; the long ridges on each side are like the arms of a mother (ama) protecting her child, meanwhile the hanging glacier thinking of as the Dablam, the traditional double-pendant holding pictures of the gods, worn out by Sherpa women.

The view of the Ama Dablam will always strike your mind as the shiny snow-covered mountains dominate the eastern. The peak was first climbed by Mike Gill, Mike Ward, Barry Bishop, and Wally Romanes via the Southwest Ridge.

Mt. Thamserku

While talking about the mountains that one can witness during the Everest bases camp helicopter tour, one cannot forget to mention the name of Mount Thamserku. The gorgeous mountain is connected by a ridge leading eastward to Kangtega and the two peaks, rising above 6000 meters, known as Snow Saddle. The mountain rises between the Hinku and Khumbu valleys to a saddle-shaped summit.

Mt. Kangtega

Kangtega, commonly known as The Snow Saddle, is considered to be one of the major peaks of the Nepal Himalayas. The summit of the beautiful mountains is at an elevation of 6,782 meters above sea level and was first ascended in 1963.

Mt. Kangaru

Kusum Kanguru also known as Mount Kangaru is a mountain located in the Khumbu Region of the Himalayas in Nepal. The word Mount Kangaru refers to "Three Snow-White Gods" in the Sherpa language, which refers to the triple summit of the mountain. The mountain is the source of Kusum Khola which flows westward to merge into the Dudh Khosi at the village of Thado Koshi. While traveling the view of a river flowing from the mountain is mesmerizing.

Breakfast at Everest view hotel

The hotel, Everest View is situated at one of the highest altitude places in the Everest region of Nepal. This hotel offers awe-inspiring mountain panoramas including Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Thamserku, Ama Dablam, Kongde Ri, and other surrounding peaks. From every corner of the hotel, the views look mesmerizing.
So, you will have almost half an hour to stay at this point and analyze the mountain scenery and also enjoy breakfast, if you wish. It would be a spectacular breakfast once in a lifetime while sipping coffee or tea with delicious and flavorful food as breakfast in front of the gigantic mountain scenarios.

Best season for Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour with landing

The Everest base camp Helicopter tour is the daily excursion of Rising Adventure. We operate this trip daily concerning the weather conditions. March to April is the best season for the Helicopter excursion to the Mt. Everest base. The weather is bright and shiny during these months so, the mountain looks crystal clear.

From December to February, you can see gorgeous mountain views due to the clear weather. But the temperature would very cold.

However, June to mid-September has unstable weather due to the rainfall. So, the views might be gloomy. And sometimes, the trip needs to be postponed or delayed due to the bad weather.

Why to land the Helicopter on Kalapatthar instead of the Everest base camp?

This is a noticeable query. So, to make it clear Mt. Everest cannot be seen from its base camp due to its physical structure. And Mt. Nuptse has blocked Mt. Everest. So, this Helicopter landing tour at Kalapatthar displays proper closer vistas of Mt. Everest

Mt. Lhotse, Mt, Nuptse, Mt. Pumoru, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Ama Dablam, Pisang Peak, and other Khumbu glaciers are also be seen closely from Kala Patthar.

But the helicopter can be taken off at the Everest base camp on request only. A helicopter ride to the top of Mt. Everest is also possible, but we do not operate it. Didier Delsalle is the one and only person who landed a helicopter on the Everest summit in 2005 for three minutes and fifty seconds. He is considered the greatest fighter pilot.

Be prepared for a good kind of shock by such rapid meeting with the Mother of Mountains :)

Mark Ka_bdor-Marcus Polus JR, HungaryTrip Date: January 01, 2024

      The intro, planning:

Finally, after a lot of planning and ban because of an unfortunate and sad heli crash, back to July, limitations, restrictions... we could make this happen in December: Kalaphatar heli tour. Chandan was so patient, all the time with me from distant too, as someone who represents Nepal's overall culture and shiny side very well! He was attentive all the way and treated me like a family member. He even visited me in the hotel before the day of the flight, what is unusual in the days of growing technocracy. We could've solved the payment online too, but he felt as well important to meet in person, to build friendship and to be the face of his country.
He is really respectful too, and thankful if there is mutual trust and the love of that mountaneous area. As well he took notes about we discussed all the way to improve the business, so that is full humbleness too.
As we had of course some issues and logistics or to get ground of common understanding too, and things to be resolved, but for now all those are gone.
I'll definitely be his contributor in the 'Western' Region, and hope to bring him more and more Customers! I really hope that I was not the first and last of it but only the pioneer of this exact type of adventure from our region(s).

      About the flight itself:

It was a bit too rushy, but by the hour, so no big complaints. I actually wanted to do a kind of record-breaking experiment again (just when I went beyond the Northern and South Circle (66) just in 2 weeks, 2-2 times), to have this all packed into a day (or much less), so nothing to push onto Chandan, who just tried to help in this. ;) Yes, I had that much time left that I could do a bit of city tour, and still arrived for my 9PM flight to the airport, hours before...
The pilot was originally fun and everything started smooth, however it was a bit uncertain where we are at a certain moment during the tour, so a bit more communication and agreements beforehand could've been better to get sync between him and the Company, as well maybe, and/or if Chandan or another rep. would fly too, it may be easier. This gap is just about the communication segment, since I felt myself all the time safe, we agreed about the heli's parameters are so fitting to that area (much more than a plane's would) and had a good mood chat about the mountains, but there was still a bit of uncertainty left, what should be the exact spots for scenic view, and how many times and where to stop and so. All may be about time vs. money (both were quite fixed for that time between Company and Customer), but neither should be a surprise (less or more) for none of the parties in the story, but should be figured out and not only by intuitions or indications but in advance, and not 'inside' the experience.
Otherwise yes, the pilot was a real expert, the heli was nice and the views... look at the pictures and you'd want to be there right now! :)
I got some friends too on the way, it was a nice meeting with hikers, sherpas and those who we picked up on the way. So it was a good improvisation of local-feeling too, outside the hotels too.
