Required documentation for Visa

It is the right of the Nepal Government to grant or not to grant a visa to any foreigner. In order to get the Nepal Tourist Visa, the following things must be required:

  • Duly filled in Visa Application Form (download form)
  • Valid Passport (at least for six months)
  • One recent photograph (2X2) with a light background
  • Personal cheques and credit card payments are not acceptable for obtaining a visa.
  • The payment in cash is required if the currency is US Dollar, Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Hong Kong Dollar, Singapore Dollar, Japanese Yen, Euro, Swiss Franc, and Pound Sterling,

Visa on Arrival

One of the easiest ways to get a Tourist Visa for Nepal is by applying it on your arrival. You can obtain it at any of the following entry points;

  • Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu,
  • Immigration Offices along the Nepal-India border at Kakadbhitta, Birganj, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, and Gaddachauki
  • Immigration Office along Nepal- China border at Kodari
  • Immigration Office, Pokhara (not the entry point)

Note: Outside of Nepal, you can also get the visa at the nearest Embassy or the Diplomatic Mission.

Visa fees:

The Immigration of Nepal Government has changed the visa fee style as per the decision made on 26 May 2019 and has been being effective from 17 July 2019. They are as follows:

  • USD 30.00 for 15 days (Multiple Entry)
  • USD 50 for 30 days (Multiple Entry)
  • USD 125.00 for 90 days (Multiple Entry)

Once your visa is issued that cannot be withdrawn and the visa fee cannot be refunded. It must be used within six months from the date of issue.

Visa Extension

You can extend your Nepal Tourist Visa at the Immigration Department of Kathmandu or Pokhara. For it, you need to submit your passport, one passport-size photo, a visa extension form, and the extension fee. The extension amount is following:

  • USD 45 for 15 days and USD 3 per day for additional days (within valid visa dates).
  • USD 5 per day as a late fine (in case of visa expiration of fewer than 150 days)
