Table of Contents

Day 01: Drive to Nayapul from Pokhara and trek to Chhomrong

You have half an hour of drive to Nayapul and your trek starts from there. You walk up along the forest and reach Ghandruk. It is a beautiful place where Gurungs are the major inhabitants. From there, you go up till to Chhomrong and spend a night.

Day 02: Trek to Bamboo

Today, you will cross the bridge down there and then climb up to Lower SInuwa. Then Upper Sinuwa is on the other side. And from there you are heading to Dovan and Himalaya. It's going to be a good 7-8 hour long trek today. This entire trek route is like you climb up a mountain, then climb down, then climb another mountain and climb down again, and it just continues all the way like that. Since you climb down, you will obviously need to climb up. Let's see how long this uphill climb is. These stairs just don't end! Till now you may be confused and wondering about 'Fishtail' and where it is on the maps. And Machhapuchhare is a literal translation- Fish (machchha) tail (puchhar)! And you can see it clearly right from there. Sinuwa to Bamboo is a 2 hours hike. There aren't a lot of stairs on this stretch. It's mostly walking through the forest, so it shouldn't be very difficult. The views en route today are brilliant! -Love the stairs? -They are fooling you or making you climb up, then go down, then again climb up, and finally Bamboo welcomes you. You are not going all the way to the Himalayas today. You reach Bamboo for lunch and you have already covered 9 km today itself, so it's best to stay there rather than continue walking from there.

Day 03: Trek to Deurali

Today, you are heading up from Bamboo to Deurali. Do you know what the best thing is about today? (Tries unsuccessfully exhaling smoke) Today's trek begins with some rough terrains. An hour later you have made it to Dovan (2505 m). Now you are gaining altitude. You have already gained 400 meters in the last hour. Finally, at Himalaya (2920 m), you are just going to stop there for lunch and then another 1.5 hours to Deurali where you will stop for the night.

What a view! What never-ending stairs these are! You’re sure had there been no fog there, the views that side would have been a lot better. Finally, you will reach! -Be careful! -How are you? (In Nepali) - I'm good. What do you think is happening there? What is this? This just cleared up and what a view it is- the mountains are right on your face! Awesome!

Day 04: Trek to Annapurna Base Camp I

Today's breakfast is at Deurali, Lunch will be at MBC (Machhapuchchchhre Base Camp) and dinner will be at Annapurna Base Camp I. You can sense an awesome sunrise on that side and you are starting for MBC now. It's just a 2-hour trek, but it's completely uphill.

And ABC (Annapurna Base Camp) is another 2 hours walk from there. Check that out on top of the mountain- do you see that? The locals say that's Buddha and it does look like Buddha in a sitting posture. But how did it come to be there? How could anyone reach there? So today's trail will take you along the river for 1.5 hours and this is not going to be easy. You can see how the river is plunging down. And as you can see, the tree line is almost gone. Just some small bushes here and there now. And now you may be going to touch the first glacier of your life. This is so dirty! But this is absolutely frozen and thick ice. It's too exhausting and you may barely able to walk. It's been over 2.5 hours since you started walking from Deurali. Finally, you are able to spot MBC but to reach there, you need to climb down from there and then climb up again from there. It's going to take another 30 minutes. Completely exhausted today! And you have made it to Machhapuchchhre Base Camp. There it is!

Guess what Two hours later. That's Annapurna I, Annapurna South, and you have made it to the base camp. There is a deep trench down. There is a lot of soil and rocks in it seems like it has been dugout. And then up there you can see all the way to Annapurna. You may have never seen a snow-clad mountain like this right from its base till the top. You will make it to Annapurna Base Camp. There is a lot going on in your mind, but you are not able to put it into words. Standing there in front of this 8000-meter high peak, you may feel superbly proud that you are standing there you may never even imagined that you would do a big trek like this one.

Day 05: Trek back to Bamboo

You will retrace the previous ways and reach Bamboo.

Day 06: Trek to Jhinu Danda

You will follow the previous way till to Chhomrong and trek down towards Jhinu Danda.

Day 07: Trek to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara

Today, your trekking is going to be ended. So, you will walk thoroughly to Syauli Bazaar, to Birethati, and finally, reach Nayapul. From there, you have a short drive to Pokhara and your trek will mark full stop there.
