Helambu Trek is the nearest trekking trail to Kathmandu. It is located at the lower altitude of the Langtang region in Nepal. The spectacular views of Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and other peaks give the company to the trekking to the Helambu area.

Actually, the word ‘Helambu’ is derived from ‘Hyolmo’. It means a type of tribe that lives there. The Tamang and Sherpa people are the main inhabitance of the Helambu region. So, the Helambu Circuit Trekking can be considered as the Helambu Cultural Trek through the forests of rhododendron, oak, bamboo, etc.

Langtang Helambu Trekking is basically perfect for family trekkers. Apart from it, this trek is suitable for those who have a short vacation but want to explore the Himalayan region of Nepal and for those too who have high altitude sickness.

Helambu Cultural Trekking begins from the beautiful village known as Sundarijal. It takes almost an hour's drive to reach there from Kathmandu. In the beginning, the trail goes on along the area of Shivapuri National Park bypassing the small hydroelectric plant and moves on through the terraced farmlands. It joins the Langtang National Park most of the time of the trail.

Chisapani, Tharepati, Take Ghyang and Sermathang are the beautiful villages of the Helambu region. They are mainly populated by Tamang and Sherpa inhabitants. The trekkers get surprised by experiencing the warm hospitality of the Helambu people. Their cultures are remarkable. The incredible sceneries of Langtang ranges and the neighboring snow-capped peaks provide stunning enjoyment to the Helambu Valley Trekking.

Finally, the trail descends to the Melamchi Pool Bazaar, a trekking ending point. From there you have a scenic drive back to Kathmandu.

We have designed the Helambu Trek Itinerary in a very short and simple way. It can also be joined to Langtang and Gosaikunda trail named as Langtang Gosaikunda Helambu Trekking if the trekkers wish. For more details, please feel free to contact us.
