Mount Kanchenjunga stands for the second and the third highest mountains in Nepal and the world respectively. Besides, it is the first tallest mountain of India as it lies in the borders between Nepal and India. It is situated at an elevation of 8586m above sea level.
This mountain is regarded as the queen of the Himalayan peaks. Its structure is enchanting with five summits. Among them, two are totally inside Nepal and others are at the border. It was first climbed on 25 May 1955.
Kanchenjunga Circuit Trekking in Nepal is located in a remote region. It is the less explored trekking trail in the eastern Himalayas of Nepal. It is designed for adventure-loving trekkers, which is a strenuous trek. It offers diverse natural sceneries and culturally loaded ethnic communities.
The Kanchenjunga trekking route lies in the Kanchenjunga National Park, which is a land of Snow Leopard and Himalayan Black bears. It goes through the rhododendron, oak, and chestnut forest in the high altitude, but the initial trekking area is a tropical region. Rai, Limbu, and other ethnic groups are populated in the local places.
Similarly, the different high passes, hilly gorges, waterfalls, and alpine valleys are the major attractions of this Kanchenjunga Circuit trekking trail. The Himalayan views include the Kanchenjunga and Makalu region are beautiful.
The trek begins from Suketar after having a flight to Biratnagar from Kathmandu and a drive to Philim. It goes along the Tamur and Arun Rivers. The glaciers like Kumbhakarna, Yalung, and Yamatari at the Kanchenjunga Himalayan regions are the sources of these rivers. Likewise, Phale Village is popular for handicrafts and other things made by the Tibetans.
Besides, crossing the passes like Sinon La Pass and Mirgin La Pass is interesting with the breathtaking sceneries of Mt. Makalu and the Kanchenjunga on the way which also helps to add charm to your trekking trail. After making a round trip, the trek descends to Suketar. Finally, you fly back to Kathmandu via Biratnagar.
The best time to take part in the Kanchenjunga Circuit trekking is May to June and September to October. We strictly recommend you not to join this trail during the monsoon as the routes are very slippery and roads remain blocked due to the heavy rainfall.
